The FinTech Association of Malaysia (FAOM) and Monash University Malaysia have formalised a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important step towards strengthening collaboration between industry and academia.

The partnership brings together FAOM's fintech industry network and Monash University's academic and research capabilities to support the development of Malaysia's fintech ecosystem through education, research, innovation and industry engagement.

The MoU provides a framework for both parties to collaborate on industry-focused seminars, webinars, workshops, roundtables and other knowledge-sharing initiatives covering emerging developments in fintech and digital finance.

The collaboration will also explore opportunities for joint research in areas such as financial inclusion, regulatory technology, artificial intelligence, digital innovation and the future of financial services. Through these initiatives, both organisations aim to encourage practical research and create stronger links between academic knowledge and real-world industry needs.

Another key area of the partnership is talent development. The collaboration may provide opportunities for students to gain greater exposure to the fintech industry through internships, industry engagement, mentoring and practical learning opportunities.

FAOM will also contribute its industry network and ecosystem connections to support broader engagement with fintech companies, financial institutions, regulators, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders. This creates opportunities for students and researchers to gain direct insight into the evolving needs and challenges of the financial technology sector.

The partnership further supports the development of digital content, publications and thought-leadership initiatives that can contribute to discussions around Malaysia's fintech landscape and the future of digital finance.

By bringing together academia and industry, Monash University Malaysia and FAOM aim to create meaningful opportunities for knowledge exchange, innovation and talent development. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive and technology-driven fintech ecosystem in Malaysia and the wider region.
